Daddy Update and Weekend in Review

Nothing really new to report on dad. He did do chemo yesterday but it was a different kind so hopefully he will not have a bad reaction, at least not as bad as two weeks ago.

On Friday January 18, 2012 our niece Katey turned 17 years old. Happy Birthday Katey!!

We had a girls night and a bunch of us went to Dirty Harry’s and had a fantastic time!

On Saturday Andrea and Alvin came out and Peyton played with Austin and Allie Jo! We even had a tea party with V8 fusion juice and even the boys joined in, I think because they wanted cookies and juice, it was so cute! Andrea showed me all her pictures from her trip to Germany, which were amazing and beautiful but the concentration camp ones really got to me.

On Sunday we went to see Braylon wrestle at Platte County High School. He did a great job but unfortunately didn’t win any of his matches. He looked adorable.

On Monday the three of us spent a lazy day at home since it was MLK day.

Weekend and Dad update

On Saturday January 12, 2013 we went to St. Joe and spent the afternoon with my parents.  Dad had a pretty rough week after the new chemo treatment last Monday January 7, 2013.  He is not going to have chemo this week now and will go back to the doctor on Friday to see what the plan for next week is.  On Sunday me and Peyton were lazy all day, which was so nice and much needed.  Lance spent the day moving Tanner home from college.

Update on dad

Dad had a PET scan last week and we found out that the cancer is continuing to spread. They basically gave him 3-12 months. He is going to continue chemo and they have changed it and he comes home with the drugs through his port. We found out on Monday but as most probably understand I was not dealing well and today is the first day I feel like I can write about it so I apologize for the delay since the last post. We facetimed with dad on Monday night and he shaved his head and looks amazing!

I know I only live a little over an hour away but it so hard to not be able to be there or have the opportunity to be there every day, I do text him and talk to them daily but it’s not the same and then to make it more difficult I don’t get to go up as frequently as I would like but I go up as often as I can. With a 5 year old who has things to do I feel like I can’t stop his life and activities to go up even every weekend and well it just sucks that I can’t be two places at once, but my heart is! I would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support, it means so much to our family.

Weekend in review

On Saturday January 5, 2013 we went out for ice cream with Megan and her son Hogan.  Peyton was a character, showing off a little bit in front of Hogan.  I discovered that Peyton now loves wormy worms (gummy worms).  That evening we snuggled in and watched movies.  On Sunday we went to church and then did absolutely nothing all day, it was the perfect day!!

Little bit of every thing

First let me start this post by apologizing for not posting in almost two weeks, it was a very hectic time and to be honest I never sat down in front of an actual computer and I was not about to do a post with my phone. Dad was in the hospital and was released on Friday December 21, 2012 but unfortunately had a blood infection and had to return to the hospital the next day. We went to St Joe on Sunday for the Young Family Christmas which was very nice and my cousin Carissa sent my dad a prayer quilt which is absolutely touching and beautiful, everyone took a turn tying a not on the blanket and saying their prayer at the same time. After we celebrated Christmas at my parents we went down to the hospital and spent some time with my dad and so did the rest of the family so since he couldn’t come to us, we all went to him. Peyton brought his little Christmas tree up and let papa have it in his room. The following day was Christmas Eve and we had planned to eat and then go see my dad in the hospital and open presents and then go to church. As we were getting ready to eat dad sent everyone a text saying that he was going to be released at 4:15pm, it was currently 1pm so we put the food back up and waited for him and it was worth the wait and the best Christmas present for all of us. When he got home we ate and then opened presents, he was absolutely thrilled. We didn’t make it to church for the first time in years but I think God understood and gave us such a blessing.

We spent Christmas Day at home and Aunt Chel and Aaron came to watch Peyton open presents Christmas morning and then that afternoon we went to the Tryon Christmas.

The rest of the week we relaxed, played games and had fun being together. Lance and I were able to sneak out one night for dinner and we went to Blanc Burgers on the Plaza and did a little shopping. On New Year’s Eve a good friend and her kids came down and we rang in the year east coast time and then we snuggled into bed and were awake for our year and then went straight to sleep, which was absolutely perfect!! We spent New Year’s Day watching football and Lance made chili, it was a nice and relaxing day before heading back to the real world.
